The Farm at Mill Creek is a mixed-use development that is well under construction and is shown on the map as Project Site. As part of this development project, The Farm at Mill Creek is required to preserve, restore, and protect the 58 acres historically referred to as the old Pacific Topsoil’s site. Shown on the map as Mitigation Site. Link to drone video of the site.
As part of this wetland preserve (mitigation site), the developer will be installing a boardwalk and trail system with interpretive signage in the outside areas of the wetland buffers (primarily the old gravel road areas). The equipment was placed on-site in August as work is starting this month for the installation of the boardwalks/trails, etc. The project construction time should be approximately 4-6 weeks. Once the trails are completed in late fall of 2020, the developer will be required to plant/restore areas. The developer anticipates having the Wetland Preserve completed and open to the public later this spring. Please stay tuned opening date.
Once the mitigation site is completed, the developer, per the Development Agreement, will be offering the 58 areas to the City for dedication as a City Park. The City Council will have the option to accept or not accept on behalf of the City. The wetland preserve could be modeled after the Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary located at 7007 Seaway Blvd, Everett, WA 98203 by Boeing. The intent is provide a passive educational area for the public.
